Our June Bug printables are part of a collective notebooking/lapbooking resources called Alphabugs. This is a great way to work your way through the ABC’s while learning all about amazing creepy crawlies along the way. Our Alphabugs lapbooks are similar in content with some variations, but most contain the following resources: Anatomy, Life Cycle, Habitat, Family, Communication, Bible Verse, Copywork, Crafts, Activity suggestions and more. Additionally, we’ve included a Quilt Square for each insect so you can create a classroom quilt along the way. The quilt squares are a great way to include your younger children as they include a coloring page, handwriting practice, and scissor skills. See how to make a classroom quilt here.
June Bug Craft
For our June Bug craft we made something similar to DLTK’s Lady Bug Craft…..Except of course we didn’t use red,and instead of paper, we used paper plates. First I had thechildren color the backside of a plate with various colors of green. Then I let them use sparkle glitter glue to paint on a”Sheen”. We made the bodies by tracing a paperplate onto black construction paper and then adding a bulge for a head. We secured the wings to the bodies with a small brad so the bug is able to open and close it’s wings.
DLTK has lots of other LadyBug Crafts you could
alter to use for a June Bug craft as well, so be
sure and check them out!
