This page is full of resources you can use to
make your
Owl Lapbook.  We studied owls
during my daughters First Grade year so the
printables and activities are designed for that
age level, but they can easily be altered for
older children.  I posted all the links to the
activities and crafts we used as well as books
we enjoyed reading.  There are lots of owl
lapbooks online, so be sure and check out the
helpful resources at the bottom of the page!
Make a Pinecone Owl

These adorable owls are made with pinecones,
cotton balls, feathers, craft foam and a few wiggle
eyes.  They are really easy to make, and children will
want to make a whole "cluch" of baby owls!  In
Oregon you can snag pine cones, moss and feathers
all on an Owl nature walk!

Owls by Gail Gibbons

Gail Gibbons explores the mysterious world and workings of owls in her latest
nonfiction picture book. She depicts numerous species of owls and discusses their
biological similarities as well as their differences. She portrays their ideal habitats,
life styles, birth and development and environmental hazards that are threatening
certain species. As usual, her comprehensive text is accompanied by clearly
labeled illustrations and diagrams. Definitions are also included for additional clarity.

Baby Owl

As their nest becomes more and more crowded, the baby great horned owls stretch
and flap impatiently. But they can't fly just yet. Even if one of them falls from the
tree and must find its own shelter on the ground, the little one still depends on its
parents' care. There are many weeks to go before the young chicks will be strong
enough to fly away and find homes of their own.

Here are the resources that we used for our Owl Lapbook.  There are so many
wonderful resources on Birds of Prey but these were the ones we used the
most, and for the foundation of the minibooks below.
Quiet Please!
Because of the way God
designed them,  owls have
the special ability to fly
quietly.  Use this fan book
to write in the science
behind the ability.
Owl Babies:  Fan Book Facts
Use this little fan book to store facts about the adorable
little owlets!
Owl Memory Match
Here are some amazing
photos of various owls you
can use to play a memory
matching game.  Print two
sets on heavy cardstock
for best results.  See if you
can name the different
types of owls as you play!
Owl Life Cycle
Use this circle book to
draw or write about the life
cycle of owls.
Wise Owls:  Wisdom Bible Verse    Page 2
Here are a couple of copywork sheets for children on
WISDOM!  James 1:5 and James 3:17 talk about Wisdom
from God and they are great verses for children to learn
alongside the "Wise Owl" theme.  Print and Cursive
examples are provided, children who need more room
can use a separate sheet.
